Shepherd Block

Rockport, Maine

Built in 1891, this brick building had been damaged by a fire before new owners undertook a complete restoration. Design work was carried out under the aegis of the U. S. National Park Service; the building is the recipient of a Maine Preservation Honor Award.

The Shepherd Block is now a focal point in the center of Rockport; occupied by Maine Media Workshops, Bay Chamber Concerts, and Shepherd’s Pie, an award winning restaurant. Now under new ownership, 18 Central Oyster Bar & Grill continues in the Shepherd’s Pie tradition with its own sense of deliciousness!
